This exhibition showcased treasures and artistic collections from Poland, featuring a diverse range of works including paintings, sculpture, furniture, tapestries, and more. It notably presented Leonardo da Vinci's 'La dama del armiño' for the first time in Spain and offered a didactic exploration of Poland's history and traditions.
The exhibition 'Polonia: Tesoros y Colecciones Artísticas' was a significant collaboration between Patrimonio Nacional, the National Museum of Krakow, Fundación Banco Santander, Acción Cultural Española, and the Ministry of Culture of Poland. It presented 195 works, with a highlight being the first exhibition in Spain of Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, 'La dama del armiño', painted around 1490.
The collection spanned various artistic typologies, from painting and sculpture to furniture, tapestries, coins, medals, books, porcelain, and textiles. Notable inclusions featured renowned artists such as Lucas Cranach and Rembrandt, alongside Brussels tapestries and armor from German and Italian workshops. Beyond its artistic merit, the exhibition served a didactic purpose, delving into historical, geographical, and traditional aspects of Poland.
