Curatorial context

‘Hilemórfica. Escultura para ver y tocar’ is an exhibition at the Museo Tiflológico de la ONCE, featuring 12 sculptures drawn from its permanent collection. The exhibition's title and thematic organization are inspired by Aristotle's philosophical concepts of matter (hyle) and form (morphe). The collection is divided into three thematic sections: works in stone that evoke sadness, metal sculptures representing movement, and wooden pieces that convey joy. Across these materials, the exhibition centers on the treatment of the human figure, showcasing diverse artistic languages and inviting visitors to consider touch as a primary means of artistic knowledge and appreciation. Three of the featured works are by artists who are blind or visually impaired: ‘Torso II’ by Andrés Clariana, ‘Violinista de las cavernas’ by Vivencio Moro, and ‘Amor sensorial’ by José Antonio Graña.
