Exhibition summary

This exhibition showcases historical agricultural machinery, focusing on grain processing equipment such as threshing machines powered by steam engines, combustion engines, and electric motors. It also details advancements in harvesting technology like combine harvesters.

Curatorial context

Housed in a former ore and refractories storage, this exhibition delves into the evolution of agricultural technology, particularly grain processing. It highlights the transition from manual threshing to mechanized methods, featuring various threshing machines powered by steam engines, combustion engines (such as the Güldner Lanova), and electric motors. The display also includes harvesting machinery like combine harvesters, blowers, straw balers, and grain cleaners, illustrating the significant increase in agricultural yields over time. While many exhibits originate from Central Bohemia, the collection also incorporates machinery from the Silesian-Moravian Region, documenting the history of all displayed items. The Veronikárna hall within the same facility complements this by exhibiting agricultural machinery, with a strong emphasis on tractors, which represented significant advancements in agricultural mechanization during the 20th century. The collection spans various brands and periods, from the early Fordson model F to later Škoda and Zetor models. The exhibition preserves the machines in their original condition, including any modifications made during their operational use, providing insight into their harsh operating conditions and historical context.
