National Museum in Warsaw Supports Major Sarah Lipska Retrospective in France
The National Museum in Warsaw is participating in a significant international exhibition that delves into the diverse artistic legacy of Sarah Lipska (1882-1973). This collaborative initiative aims to present a comprehensive overview of the multifaceted artist's work across two venues in France.
Sarah Lipska was a prominent avant-garde figure active in Paris during the 1920s. Her creative endeavors spanned sculpting, painting, styling, and decorative arts. Originally trained in Warsaw, Lipska later established her career in Paris, where she collaborated with renowned institutions like the Ballets Russes and worked alongside fashion icon Paul Poiret. Her client list included notable personalities such as Helena Rubinstein. Lipska's unique style skillfully combined Central European artistic traditions with modern aesthetics, characterized by vibrant colors, refined forms, and innovative use of materials. Birds, a recurring motif in her creations, often symbolized her artistic freedom. This exhibition marks the first retrospective dedicated to her work in France, seeking to re-establish her rightful place among significant 20th-century artists.
