The initiative brings together individuals from diverse creative and personal backgrounds who have collaborated with the historic venue over the past year. Through a paid development scheme, the group has focused on exploring how younger audiences connect with the arts and identifying fresh ways to foster community engagement.
The upcoming schedule highlights a mix of free and "pay what you choose" sessions designed to welcome visitors of all backgrounds into the creative space.
What to Expect in the Summer Line-Up
The seasonal programme offers a variety of participatory workshops and showcases taking place across the venue:
- Step Into The Water Movement Workshops: Free dance sessions led by Christie Barnes and Futureproof member Maddy Winter, exploring the folklore and ecology of Yorkshire Wolds chalk streams.
- Sound & Story Workshop: A hands-on session where participants can discover how film and theatre scores are built, guided by Samuel and Damien.
- Grief Cafe Workshop: A supportive, low-pressure creative space tailored for individuals aged 18 to 35 navigating bereavement, complemented by a relaxed drop-in session. Further details and sign-ups are available via external registration.
- Opposites Attract Scratch Night: A studio evening celebrating fresh creative work under the theme of combining unexpected subjects—such as science—with performance art. Applications for performers can be submitted through the application pack.
