York Theatre Royal Announces Major New Revival of Death of a Salesman and Packed 2026-2027 Season
York Theatre Royal has unveiled an extensive new line-up, anchored by a major revival production of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. Scheduled to run from 24 February to 27 March 2027 before transferring to Glasgow, the production marks a first-time co-production between York Theatre Royal and the Citizens Theatre. Directed by Dominic Hill, the staging brings a fresh perspective to the twentieth-century classic.
What to Expect from the New Season at York Theatre Royal
The upcoming programme blends large-scale drama, contemporary dance, and family-friendly productions. Alongside Death of a Salesman, spring 2027 will see the theatre reunite with the Emma Rice Company and Nottingham Playhouse for a revival of Tristan & Yseult, following its last staging in 2017.
The venue's autumn schedule features high-profile visiting performances and co-productions. Notable highlights include the UK premiere of Acosta Danza’s Cuban Baroque and London City Ballet: Firebird – A Mixed Bill. Audiences can also catch Daisy Goodwin’s backstage drama By Royal Appointment starring Jane Asher and Samantha Womack, alongside Ben Duke and Lost Dog’s inventive dance-theatre piece Juliet and Romeo.
Local and regional companies will also return to the stage throughout the season. The Studio will host York Actor Collective’s The Strongbox and Story Craft Theatre’s festive The Enormous Christmas Pudding. Meanwhile, the Main House welcomes the John Godber Company with This Is The Life and York Light Opera’s run of 9 to 5- The Musical.
