Rijksmuseum's RIJKS® Restaurant Welcomes Acclaimed Chef Leonor Espinosa to Amsterdam
RIJKS®, the esteemed restaurant housed within the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, is set to continue its celebrated guest chef series. This year's inaugural guest will be Colombian chef Leonor Espinosa, recognized as the World’s Best Female Chef in 2022. The event will see Chef Espinosa collaborate with the RIJKS® team to offer a special culinary experience to visitors.
Executive Chef Joris Bijdendijk is continuing a tradition that began nearly a decade ago with the restaurant’s inception. This event marks a long-awaited collaboration, originally scheduled for 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic. The team expresses pride in finally bringing this event to fruition after four years.
A Taste of Colombia at the Heart of Amsterdam
Chef Leonor Espinosa, alongside her daughter and sommelier Laura Hernandez Espinosa, operates restaurant LEO in Bogota. Their approach immerses diners in Colombia's diverse ecosystems through a 12-course tasting menu. This culinary philosophy emphasizes local ingredients and traditions, reflecting Espinosa's commitment to preserving Colombian gastronomic heritage.
LEO currently holds the 43rd position on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list and is ranked 8th on the Latin America’s 50 Best list, further cementing Espinosa's international reputation.
Continuing a Culinary Legacy in Amsterdam
Since 2014, RIJKS® has hosted over 40 internationally renowned chefs, inviting them to collaborate and share their unique culinary perspectives in the Netherlands. Past guest chefs have included Margot Janse, André Chiang, Tim Raue, Virgilio Martínez, Richard Ekkebus, Jorge Vallejo, Mauro Colagreco, and Manoella Buffara. This ongoing series highlights the restaurant's dedication to global culinary exchange.
