Dutch astronaut André Kuipers joined children at the museum to officially open this engaging summer activity, which transforms a temporary exhibition wing into a hands-on research lab.
Become an Art Investigator at the Rijksmuseum
From July 1 to September 3, 2023, young investigators can delve into six authentic artworks using techniques similar to those employed by professional restorers and scientists. Participants will don lab coats and utilize tools such as microscopes, UV light, and X-rays to examine fabric fibers, watermarks, and pigments, all in the quest to determine an artwork's true master status. This project is a collaboration between the Rijksmuseum, NEMO Science Museum, and a panel of ten children who contributed to its development.
