Rijksmuseum's Acclaimed RIJKS® Restaurant Reopens in Amsterdam
Amsterdam's renowned Rijksmuseum is celebrating the reopening of its acclaimed restaurant, RIJKS®, following an extensive refurbishment. Located on Museum Square, the restaurant welcomed guests again on November 23, 2023, with a refreshed interior and an updated menu designed to enhance the dining experience.
Executive chef Joris Bijdendijk and his team have introduced the "RIJKS® NEXT" menu, building on a decade of culinary evolution. Diners can expect new, innovative dishes alongside some beloved classics. For example, new creations like crispy roast cockscomb with Dutch shrimp sambal are featured, while the beetroot mille-feuille remains a staple. The front-of-house team, led by Tiffany Kensmil, aims to create a dynamic and personalized atmosphere, complemented by a new wine selection curated by sommelier Robin Toen.
Enhanced Ambiance and Dutch Design Focus
The restaurant's interior redesign, overseen by Paul Linse, emphasizes natural materials and warm colors to create a welcoming environment. A significant update includes an expanded kitchen, allowing diners throughout the restaurant to observe the chefs and sommeliers at work, fostering a more engaging and immersive experience. The team’s new attire also reflects Dutch design, with male members wearing designs by Atelier Munro and female members dressed in creations by Erik Frenken, both chosen for their modern elegance and quality craftsmanship. The restaurant's graphic identity continues under designer Irma Boom.
Planning Your Visit: Reservations and Upcoming Events
RIJKS® is already looking ahead to the festive season, with special lunch and dinner menus planned for Christmas. For New Year's Eve, the restaurant will offer a luxury "Dunch" menu, providing an extended meal experience before the midnight celebrations. Further plans for the new year include the announcement of upcoming guest chef events, promising collaborative culinary experiences with leading chefs.
Reservations for the refreshed RIJKS® are now open and can be made via their official website at www.rijksrestaurant.nl.
