Nora Turato Presents 'pool7' Performance at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam
Artist Nora Turato will bring her latest performance, pool7, to the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam on Friday, August 29, 2025. This new work delves into the artist's exploration of language, particularly in response to the rise of AI-generated content.
Exploring the Concept Behind 'pool7'
pool7 marks a notable shift in Turato's artistic approach. Previously, her work often incorporated found language from social media and the broader internet, examining its often detached and alluring surfaces. With this new piece, Turato turns inward, focusing exclusively on self-written material. The language presented is described as personal, fragile, and deeply embodied, conveying a range of intense emotions.
The performance emphasizes language emerging through physical expression, utilizing gestures such as convulsions, tremors, and sighs. While the work is scripted, its delivery is not strictly controlled, allowing Turato to be guided by emotional states. pool7 is designed to be a raw and unrecorded experience, with no documentation permitted, resisting replication.
This performance was developed in conjunction with Turato’s site-specific video and sound installation, I HEAR YOU, I HEAR YOU, which is currently part of the Stedelijk’s IN SITU series. The titular phrase from the installation became a foundational element for pool7.
