Street Art Museum Amsterdam Kicks Off Free Creative Workshops in Its Community Garden
The Street Art Museum Amsterdam is celebrating the arrival of spring with the launch of its "BuurtTuin van Verhalen" (Community Garden of Stories) workshops. With the sun making an appearance and the garden now vibrant with lush plants, colorful flowers, fragrant herbs, and fresh vegetables, it provides a unique setting for a new series of free creative sessions.
Engaging with Street Art: Graffiti Workshops
The workshop series began on March 18 with an exciting graffiti workshop led by artist Metin. Having moved from Turkey to the Netherlands at age six, Metin quickly developed a passion for street art, inspired by local graffiti. His journey includes joining a graffiti crew in Amsterdam-Zuidoost and securing his first commission painting a taco truck. Today, Metin shares his expertise, teaching workshops like those in the BuurtTuin. The inaugural session was a success, and the next graffiti workshop is already scheduled for April 20. Literary Evenings: Poetry in the Garden
Expanding its creative offerings, the museum will host a special poetry reading featuring Moustafa Stitou, organized in collaboration with De Schrijvers Centrale. Stitou, who lives and works in Amsterdam, is a celebrated poet whose works include Mijn Vormen (1994), Varkensroze ansichten (2003), Tempel (2013), and Waar is het lam? (2022). His reading promises to be an inspiring event where words and emotions take center stage. Learn more about Moustafa Stitou and De Schrijvers Centrale.
Beyond Graffiti and Poetry: A Full Creative Program
The initial graffiti and poetry events are just the beginning of a rich program. Over the coming months, the Street Art Museum Amsterdam plans to host a diverse array of workshops where various artists and creators will share their skills. Upcoming sessions include Mobility Flow workshops focused on movement, Creative Painting sessions for portraiture, Fineline Art workshops slated for the summer, and a four-day Photography series scheduled for after the summer season.
