The event 'Honeys! I’m Home' delves into the critical question of how architectural design can better respond to diverse family structures, particularly queer and multi-parent households, amidst a housing crisis. Architectural researcher Anastasia Cubasova will share her work, which investigates spatial justice, queer domesticity, and participatory design. Her research, stemming from a master's thesis at McGill University, examines how contemporary housing can be reformed to support collective living and shared care, moving beyond the limitations of the traditional heteronormative family model. Through queer theory, co-housing examples, and design workshops with LGBTQ+ families, the project proposes an imaginary residential project of 20 homes, demonstrating feasible adjustments within existing social housing frameworks. The initiative highlights that inclusive housing extends beyond policy to encompass equitable space and the right to live together authentically.
