Curatorial context

Winterlezing #5, titled 'Duurzaamheid en natuurinclusiviteit' (Sustainability and Nature Inclusivity), is part of a lecture series in 2022 that centers on the development and ongoing execution of the Sluisbuurt area. This specific lecture highlights 'Horizons,' a residential building by Paul de Ruiter Architects and FLUX Landscape, which is designed as a sustainable icon. The concept draws inspiration from natural cycles and the human body, aiming to create a living space that 'breathes, thinks, and feels.' Speakers Paul de Ruiter and Gerwin de Vries will discuss the design principles of the 'Horizons' building, emphasizing its commitment to bio-based and recycled materials, with projections of 62% bio-based/recycled content and 96% reusability. Andy van den Dobbelsteen, Sustainability Coordinator at TU Delft, will offer a broader perspective on the building's sustainability ambitions and their practical realization. The program also includes a panel discussion with developers and urban planners, and a concluding reflection on the architectural quality of the Sluisbuurt, moderated by Michelle Gulickx.
