Curatorial context

IN/CORPORARTE, presented as 'Travesías de luz', is the second installment of the 'Enganchados al Arte' project at the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas. The exhibition delves into themes of body image, self-perception, and social incorporation, particularly for individuals who have experienced dependency and marginalization. It features sixty photographs by Alberto Herrero Barceló, documenting the transformative journeys of the participants as they express their emotions, aspirations, doubts, and hopes for the future. Complementing the photographs are installation works created by the participants themselves during workshops held at the MNAD and the Centro de Día Casa de Campo, contributing to a rich museographic discourse. The project, facilitated by Cruz Roja as part of its 'Centro Abierto' program, utilizes art therapy as a medium for healing and self-expression. The core philosophy is to give voice to participants, allowing them to communicate their inner world and life experiences through artistic production. The exhibition aims to build a positive self-image, reflect on personal circumstances, and encourage a vision of personal rehabilitation through corporeality. By exhibiting these creations, the MNAD and Cruz Roja seek to visibilize the participants' presence, combat stigma, and promote social inclusion and growth.
