The exhibition 'La Moda Romántica' explores fashion as a significant social phenomenon of the 19th century, a period marked by the rise of named fashion designers, the emergence of fashion magazines, and the rapid adoption of seasonal trends. The display features approximately twenty outfits, primarily sourced from the Museo del Traje, integrated within the museum's palatial setting. The collection includes men's formal wear such as frock coats, levitas, and waistcoats, as well as women's attire for various occasions, including walking dresses, ballgowns, and wedding dresses. Together, these pieces provide a comprehensive overview of fashion's evolution and its social implications during the 19th century.
Curated by Eloy Martínez de la Pera, with scientific advisory from Elvira González Asenjo, the exhibition is a collaboration between the Museo del Romanticismo and the Museo del Traje C.I.P.E. The temporary exhibition is primarily located within the museum's halls, meaning general admission to the Museo del Romanticismo includes access to 'La Moda Romántica' without additional charge.
