Curatorial context

The 'Mem oRIa 5+6' exhibition is the culmination of a project that began over six years ago, born from the collaboration between design schools and the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas. The project's core idea is to use select pieces from the museum's collection as inspiration for designing new objects that address current functional, social, and cultural needs. This involves a process of reinterpretation, where each student develops a personal reading of a selected object, drawing on their research and the museum's narratives. The exhibition specifically highlights the results from the 5th and 6th editions of this project, featuring works that demonstrate how past experiences and knowledge serve as a foundation for creative innovation. The project emphasizes that creativity is not born from nothing but is built upon memory and accumulated knowledge, encouraging students to reconfigure and combine existing ideas to generate new proposals.
