Exhibition summary

IN/CORPORARTE, also referred to as 'Travesias de luz', is an exhibition exploring self-perception and social inclusion through photography and art therapy. It showcases the creative processes of participants from the 'Enganchados al Arte' project, offering a profound reflection on the body, identity, and the journey towards well-being.

Curatorial context

IN/CORPORARTE is the second exhibition of the 'Enganchados al Arte' project, held at the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas. The exhibition delves into the participants' journey of self-discovery and social reintegration, utilizing art, particularly photography, as a therapeutic tool. The title, 'Travesias de luz' (Journeys of Light), alludes to the dual focus: reflecting on the body and self-image through artistic language, and addressing social incorporation and inclusion after periods of dependency and marginalization. The project emphasizes giving voice to participants, offering them a creative space to express themselves and communicate their ideas and emotions. Sixty photographs by Alberto Herrero Barceló document this process of change and individual transformation, accompanied by texts written by the participants themselves, revealing their emotions, aspirations, doubts, and hopes for the future. Additionally, installation works created by the participants in workshops at the MNAD and the Centro de Día Casa de Campo complete the exhibition's museographic discourse. Art therapy, as employed in this project, serves as an effective instrument for connecting with oneself, channeling emotions, thoughts, and life experiences through color and form, ultimately contributing to the visibility and destigmatization of the participants.
