This exhibition presents a curated selection of immersive virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences focused on music, curated by Catherine Allen. It showcases innovative content from Spanish and British studios, featuring works related to artists like Björk, N'to, and Reeps One.
The '#XRmúsica' component of the 'Espacio XR snacks' exhibition, held from October 23 to 28, 2018, offered a carefully curated selection of music-focused immersive experiences. Selected by Catherine Allen, director of Limina Immersive, the exhibition highlighted innovative virtual, augmented, and mixed reality content from Spanish and British studios. Visitors could engage with pieces such as 'Björk: NotGet VR', a virtual music video directed by Warren du Preez & Nick Thornton Jones; 'Fantasynth' by HelloEnjoy with music by N'to, an audio-reactive VR experience; 'Reeps One: Does Not Exist', a 3D sound and spatial audio piece; and Hazel Grain's 'We Sing in Fire and Blood', a VR work based on a true story.
This event was part of a larger initiative by Fundación Telefónica and the British Council to pioneer digital culture and XR technologies. It served as an appetizer for the upcoming XR Fest in early 2019, aiming to bring the latest advancements in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality to the public. The exhibition showcased the dynamism of XR in narrative, music, and sensory experiences, demonstrating the potential of these technologies to create new forms of artistic expression and storytelling.
