The exhibition 'Expanded World. Between the Physical and the Virtual' offers a comprehensive journey through the concept of simulated realities, beginning with the origins of the internet and culminating in immersive digital experiences. It examines how cyberspace has evolved into an omnipresent 'expanded world,' a hybrid reality where virtual environments extend beyond physical limitations. The exhibition features eighty pieces, spanning from 19th-century cycloramas to advanced augmented reality and the Second Life phenomenon. It addresses profound questions about the migration of identity to non-corporeal spaces, the creation of digital alter egos, and their impact on work, health, leisure, and culture. Participating artists and institutions, including ScanLAB Projects, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Marc Lee, Cao Fei, Solimán López, Eva and Franco Mattes, Theo Triantafyllidis, Johanna Jaskowska, and Inès Alpha, contribute to reflecting on the challenges and concerns of a society living between physical and virtual realms, prompting critical thought on the ethical codes governing digital citizenship.

Admission and ticket notes

This exhibition is free to visit and is located on the fourth floor of Espacio Fundación Telefónica. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00, and Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 11:00 to 20:00.
