La gran imaginación: Historias del Futuro – Exploring Future Visions and Present-Day Challenges

This exhibition reflects on the future, exploring how it was conceived in the past and considering alternative futures we can imagine today to address current challenges. It examines how past visions of the future continue to shape our present.

‘La Gran Imaginación. Historias del Futuro’ delves into humanity's evolving perception of the future. The exhibition posits that each era's vision of the future is shaped by its context, and that many contemporary imaginings are rooted in ideas over a century old. Curated by Jorge Camacho, the exhibition aims to understand how the future was conceived in the past and why these ideas still influence us. It invites visitors to consider how we can envision new futures relevant to today's challenges. The exhibition traverses a spectrum of fictions and dreams from the 18th century to the present, showcasing literature, cinema, comics, design, and architecture. It questions whether our current perspectives on the future remain anchored in past ideals and explores the transformative power of imagination in generating 'radically different' worlds, which may be more crucial than ever in the face of global crises.
