Curatorial context

‘Untitled. The Telefónica Collection as you’ve never seen it before’ is an innovative educational project that invited 100 children to actively participate in curating an exhibition using the company's extensive art collection. This unprecedented initiative in Spain aims to spark children's interest in art and provide a unique insight into Telefónica's Art Collection. The exhibition features around 70 works, including paintings, photographs, and sculptures by both Spanish and international artists, some of which have not been displayed for two decades. Alongside these original pieces, visitors will find the creative visions of children who have reinterpreted artwork titles, designed exhibition spaces, and produced artistic murals, contributing to four main themes: faces, form and colour, mystery, and materials. The project is designed to foster an active interest in art through an immersive, collaborative, and experimental learning experience, aligning with the STEAM educational approach. The exhibition was developed over nearly a year with input from social innovation consultants, international art and education experts, and teachers and students from two Madrid schools. Complementing the exhibition, the 'Second Canvas Telefónica Collection' app allows for high-resolution viewing of selected works and offers insights into their stories, while the 'Discover Art with the Telefónica Collection' catalogue provides a child-friendly exploration of key pieces with guided exercises.
