Migración y Cultura. Un Madrid en la frontera de lo visible seeks to move beyond the perception of migration and racialized groups as passive cultural agents, instead reclaiming their significant presence within the cultural sphere. The project, initiated by YoSoyElOtro Asociación Cultural, features portraits of artists and cultural professionals in Madrid who are migrants, of migrant origin, or racialized. These individuals and organizations utilize art and culture as their primary means of expression and livelihood, believing in the collective power to foster creation and action, with migration and raciality serving as sources of strength and unique perspectives. This exhibition presents a suggested route, a map designed to generate many others—a living, situated archive that aims to put faces to a select group of initiatives often operating on the fringes of visibility. This iteration is an expanded version of a previous exhibition held in July 2021 titled “El Otrx. Arte, cultura y migración en la ciudad de Madrid,” which was also a collaboration with the National Museum of Anthropology. The exhibition is accompanied by a specially designed cultural program.
