This exhibition, "Personas que migran, objetos que migran… desde Ecuador," explores themes of migration and cultural identity through a collaborative approach with Ecuadorians living in Spain. It showcases objects lent by migrants, accompanied by their life stories, aiming to foster dialogue and visibility for their values and culture.
"Personas que migran, objetos que migran… desde Ecuador" represents a novel, collaborative approach to museum work, centering the voices and experiences of individuals. The exhibition is built around objects loaned by Ecuadorians who migrated to Spain, each accompanied by personal narratives filled with emotions, aspirations, and dreams. This pilot project aims to give visibility and respect to the values and cultures of these communities, inviting visitors to engage with these stories and understand the museum's role in serving them. The initiative involved extensive dialogue with Ecuadorian associations in Madrid, presenting museum collections to participants, who then selected themes and objects that resonated with them. Based on this engagement, they developed specific activities, such as workshops, storytelling, audiovisual presentations, or performances, which ultimately formed the content of this temporary exhibition, capturing diverse experiences, sentiments, and emotions.
