Prue Leith to Launch 'Lady of Legend' at Didcot Railway Centre Near Oxford
Didcot Railway Centre has announced that television presenter and former British Railways Board member Prue Leith will officially launch the reconstructed Saint class steam engine, known as 'Lady of Legend'. The launch event is scheduled for Friday, April 5th, with proceedings beginning at 11:15 am.
What to Expect at the Saint Class Steam Engine Launch
Visitors attending the event will have the opportunity to witness the debut of this newly reconstructed locomotive. The original Saint class was first introduced at the start of the 20th century, setting a definitive standard for express passenger steam locomotives across Britain for the subsequent fifty years. Because every original engine of this class was ultimately scrapped by the 1950s, the recreation of 'Lady of Legend' at the living museum provides a rare chance to experience a pivotal piece of railway history firsthand.
On the day of the launch, the railway centre will welcome guests from 10:30 am until 5:00 pm.
