Following a recent board meeting, the Great Western Society (GWS) has clarified its position on the remaining components of the locomotive, outlining plans for their preservation and potential future restoration.

The Great Western Society board has confirmed its ongoing commitment to acquiring the remaining components associated with 7027 Thornbury Castle. Under the current arrangements, these parts will be maintained in good condition for a period of six months. During this interim window, the organization remains open to considering proposals from adequately funded groups interested in taking on all or part of the components to facilitate a viable rebuild of the locomotive. Additionally, the society has clarified that it has no current plans to construct a star class locomotive.
