Curatorial context

The exhibition 'Pomyśl o innych. Pomyśl o sobie' (Think of Others. Think of Yourself) at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, in collaboration with the Ocalenie Foundation and the Friends of the Museum of Modern Art, is the ninth edition of a solidarity gesture supporting artistic communities for migrants and refugees. The exhibition showcases works by over 40 artists who have donated their pieces for a charity auction. The event aims to raise funds for real assistance provided by the Ocalenie Foundation to migrants, with all proceeds from the auction and limited edition sales dedicated to their key projects: Refugees Welcome Polska and the Centre for Foreigner Support. The exhibition's title, inspired by the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, invites reflection on empathy and shared responsibility. It challenges the perspective of mere hospitality towards a deeper sense of co-responsibility and co-creation of community. The participation of artists for the ninth consecutive year highlights their commitment to aid and their defense of fundamental values like equality, dignity, and security. This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the Ocalenie Foundation's work in supporting individuals with migration and refugee experiences in building safe lives in Poland.
