The Museum of Sport and Tourism participated in the 19th meeting of the Olympic Museums Network (OMN), which took place from February 19-21 in Colorado Springs, USA. Hosted at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Museum, one of the world's most modern Olympic museums, the gathering convened representatives from prominent Olympic and sports museums globally.
The meeting, chaired by Angelita Teo, President of OMN and Director of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, included discussions on admitting new members from Australia and Brazil. The Olympic Museum in Lausanne also presented a project for new educational materials based on historical multimedia documents from the IOC, which are accessible via touch screens, with the Olympic Museum in Athens being the first to implement this system.
Michał Puszkarski, Head of the Education Department at the Museum of Sport and Tourism and Chair of the OMN Collections Working Group, presented a report on the group's activities, including discussions on unifying conservation procedures, collection registration systems, storage, climate control standards, and inter-museum loan procedures. Presentations from other OMN members covered temporary exhibitions, educational programs, marketing, and conservation projects. A notable presentation highlighted the "Olympic Gate" temporary exhibition organized by the Tartu Sports Museum in Estonia at Tartu Airport during the Paris Olympic Games. The meeting also outlined OMN's goals for 2025 and beyond, including preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Cultural Olympiad and the revival of the Olympic Art Competitions.
