Gala Olimpijska: Celebrating Polish Olympic Medalists and Achievements from Rio 2016 at the Museum of Sport and Tourism

The Olympic Gala was a significant event held at the Museum of Sport and Tourism to honor Polish athletes who achieved success at the XXXI Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The ceremony commenced on the museum's permanent exhibition, where Olympic medalists unveiled commemorative plaques on the Wall of Polish Sport and Olympism. Dignitaries present included the President of Poland, the Minister of Sport and Tourism, and the President of the Polish Olympic Committee. The event highlighted the achievements of various athletes, including hammer thrower Anita Włodarczyk, the women's double scull rowing pair Magdalena Fularczyk-Kozłowska and Natalia Madaj, who secured gold medals. Silver medalists Marta Walczykiewicz (kayaking), Maja Włoszczowska (mountain biking), and Piotr Małachowski (discus throw), as well as bronze medalists Monika Michalak (wrestling), Oktawia Nowacka (modern pentathlon), Rafał Majka (cycling), Wojciech Nowicki (hammer throw), and the women's double scull kayaking pair Karolina Naja and Beata Mikołajczyk, and the women's quadruple scull rowing team, were also recognized. A highlight of the gala was the official handover of the Olympic torch from the Rio 2016 Games and a collection of Olympic uniforms to the Museum of Sport and Tourism by the President of the Polish Olympic Committee. The event also included the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by the gold medalists in rowing, celebrating the Polish team's participation in Rio. Financial awards were also presented to the medalists.
