The Pope viewed sport as a crucial tool for an individual's holistic development, emphasizing how physical activity impacts not only the body but also the psychological and spiritual aspects of a person. The effort and dedication of athletes in improving their performance and self-improvement were recognized as worthy of admiration and a source of inspiration for young people seeking role models in contemporary culture.
