Przekazanie Pochodni Olimpijskiej: Unveiling the Athens 2004 Olympic Torch Exhibition

This exhibition showcases the handover of an Olympic torch from the Athens 2004 Games to the Museum of Sport and Tourism. The torch was donated by journalist Maciej Kurzajewski as part of his Seven Continents Club initiative.

The Museum of Sport and Tourism has received a significant donation: an Olympic torch from the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. The torch was presented by Maciej Kurzajewski, a journalist from Telewizja Polska, to Tomasz Jagodziński, the Director of the Museum, during a press conference on March 11th at the Olympian's Club. This event is linked to Kurzajewski's ambitious project aiming to join the elite Seven Continents Club, a group of nearly four hundred runners who have completed marathons on all seven continents. The Athens torch becomes the ninth such Olympic memento in the Museum's collection, joining artifacts from the Olympic Games in Berlin, Moscow, Seoul, Atlanta, Turin, Beijing, Vancouver, and London. The donated torch, decorated with an olive leaf motif and crafted from metal and wood, is a testament to athletic endeavor and international sports history.
