It covers preparation, essential gear, and emergency procedures, incorporating guided tours of the museum's permanent exhibition.

Curatorial context

The Museum of Sport and Tourism in Warsaw, in partnership with the GOPR Foundation, presents the 'Safely in the Mountains' educational program, aimed at children and youth across Poland. This initiative focuses on educating participants about preventing dangers associated with mountain tourism. Experienced GOPR rescuers and museum educators provide accessible guidance on how to ensure personal safety and the safety of loved ones on mountain trails. The program teaches essential preparation steps, what to pack, and how to react in difficult situations such as severe weather, getting lost, or encountering wildlife. It also covers basic first aid principles and effective responses to hazardous scenarios. Complementing the safety lessons, participants embark on a guided tour of the Museum of Sport and Tourism's permanent exhibition, connecting mountain safety with the history of sport and tourism. Currently, registrations for the program are open. The program consists of two parts: an approximately 45-minute safety lesson led by rescuers or educators in the museum's educational room, followed by a 45-minute guided tour of the permanent exhibition. The tour is available for a symbolic fee per student under the 'Cultural School in Mazovia' program. To participate, schools are encouraged to fill out a downloadable application form and bring a signed copy, preferably on paper, from the school principal or deputy. It is suggested that schools ideally organize visits for two classes or groups simultaneously, totaling around 50 people, allowing for parallel sessions of the two program parts. The program has a limited capacity for 60 groups, with bookings accepted for full hours between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Reservations are taken exclusively by phone at 22 56 03 786, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Admission and ticket notes

The program is available for a symbolic fee per student under the 'Cultural School in Mazovia' program, payable at the museum's ticket office before the session. Registrations are accepted exclusively by phone for available time slots. Interested schools should fill out and submit an application form.
