Commemorating the 20th anniversary of Marek Wielgus's tragic passing, the Museum of Sport and Tourism in Warsaw, in collaboration with MAWI, organized the exhibition 'W kadrze Marka' (In Marek's Frame). The exhibition features more than 50 unique photographs taken by Marek Wielgus during four World Cup tournaments. These striking images showcase prominent Polish football players and coaches, such as Zbigniew Boniek and Antoni Piechniczek, as well as international football legends like Ronaldo, Romario, and Roberto Baggio, captured during the 1994 World Cup. Marek Wielgus was a dedicated sports photographer from 1982 to 1990, associated with 'Sportowiec' magazine and later the publisher of 'Mecz' magazine. His passion for sports photography led him to cover four World Cup championships. His exhibition 'Mundial bez akredytacji' (World Cup without accreditation) was displayed in over thirty countries. Wielgus also served as the Vice-President of the Polish Football Association from 1995. His life was tragically cut short in a plane crash on February 7, 1996, near the Dominican Republic. He is remembered as a co-founder of early youth sports clubs focused on football.
