Krzysztof Tęcza's Photography Exhibition: Wanda Rutkiewicz's Early Climbing at Śnieżne Kotły

The exhibition "Tutaj zaczynała Wanda" (Wanda Began Here) presents a collection of photographs by Krzysztof Tęcza, an enthusiast and expert on the Karkonosze mountains. Tęcza is known for his unique perspectives that reveal both the beauty and the formidable nature of these highlands. A key focus of the exhibition is the Śnieżne Kotły (Snow Basins), a site where Wanda Rutkiewicz, a renowned mountaineer, undertook her initial climbing steps. The text emphasizes that this location, with its harsh winter conditions and icy slopes reminiscent of the Himalayas, served as her primary climbing school, often overlooked in favor of her experiences in the Sokoliki rocks. Tęcza's photographs vividly capture this demanding environment that shaped Rutkiewicz's early mountaineering career. The exhibition was held in conjunction with the XXV Festival of Mountaineering Films.
