Exploring the Olympic Art Competitions Exhibition: A Historical Look in Białystok

The "Wystawa w Białymstoku" (Exhibition in Białystok) refers to the presentation of the exhibition "Olympic Art Competitions". This exhibition was originally conceptualized in 2004 by Professor Wojciech Zabłocki, an Olympian, architect, writer, and member of the International Society of Olympic Historians, alongside Richard Stanton from the USA. It aimed to shed light on the then-forgotten Olympic art competitions, presenting information across numerous display boards and supplemented with objects borrowed from various museums, including the Museum of Sport and Tourism in Warsaw. The exhibition had its initial showing at the Historical Museum of the Capital City of Warsaw and was subsequently presented multiple times, in whole or in part. Its most recent showing prior to its acquisition by the Museum of Sport and Tourism was during the XXXI Olympic Games in London in 2012. The Museum of Sport and Tourism in Warsaw subsequently became the owner of this exhibition, and its first presentation outside of the capital took place at the University Library in Białystok on March 17, 2014. The opening event was attended by university authorities, local sports officials, journalists, and educators, with Olympian Wojciech Fortuna as a special guest. The event also featured a lecture by Professor Artur Pasko on "Poles in Olympic Art Competitions."
