This workshop, organized for Bee Day, highlights the crucial role of pollinators, particularly bees, in our ecosystem and connects it to the practice of 'bartnictwo,' the original form of forest beekeeping. Attendees will gain insights into the functioning of a bee family, its life cycle, and the differences between bartnictwo and modern beekeeping. The session will cover wild bees, swarming, and human impact on bee populations, emphasizing the rich cultural heritage of beekeeping, recognized by UNESCO. Participants will also engage in practical activities with beekeeping tools like 'piesznia,' 'cieślica,' 'leziwo,' and 'leżaj,' and have the opportunity to learn about bee products such as pollen, 'pierzga,' propolis, and wax, with microscopic views of pollinators available. The workshop is led by Janusz Marzewski, a beekeeper and proponent of beekeeping culture, a steward of the Kurpie Beekeeping Brotherhood, and president of the Kurpie Riflemen's Association. Participants are required to review safety guidelines for beekeeping tools and submit a participant declaration form.
Admission is 20 PLN per person. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket offices in Podchorążówka or the Old Orangery during opening hours (Tuesday-Thursday: 10:00-15:00, Friday-Sunday: 10:00-17:00).
