The "Entomofaunę warto znać" (It's Worth Knowing Entomology) workshop series offers a deep dive into the diverse and often overlooked world of insects. Designed for youth (15+) and adults, these four sessions are led by esteemed entomology specialists. Participants will gain insights into the lives of various insect groups, including beetles, butterflies, and ants, understanding their unique characteristics, behaviours, and ecological importance. The workshops aim to highlight the prevalence of insects in all environments, their varied adaptations to different conditions, and the distinctions that set them apart from other animal groups. The program includes specific thematic meetings covering general entomology, beetles, butterflies, and ants, providing a comprehensive overview of these vital creatures.
The series features notable experts in the field. Dr. hab. Tomasz Mokrzycki, an entomologist focusing on saproxylic insects and beetle conservation, leads sessions. Igor Siedlecki, a naturalist educator specializing in ecology and entomology, contributes his expertise, particularly on ants. Maciej Sosnowski, a biologist and passionate butterfly expert, shares his extensive knowledge on the order Lepidoptera, with a focus on nocturnal butterflies. These sessions are designed to foster a greater appreciation and understanding of entomofauna, encouraging participants to observe and learn about the insects around them.
