The exhibition 'Landscape Paintings of Switzerland' presents the emigration works of Tadeusz Wojnarski (1922–1999), a painter and soldier whose life journey led him through wartime experiences and eventual settlement in Switzerland. The collection comprises 50 paintings, thoughtfully categorized into themes such as forest, water, mountains, and the discernible impact of human activity on nature. These works highlight Wojnarski's sensitivity to the natural environment and his artistic development, which continued even amidst his military service. Wojnarski's life was marked by significant historical events, including his deportation to the USSR and service in the Polish Armed Forces, participating in campaigns like the Battle of Monte Cassino. Despite these challenges, he pursued his artistic talents, mastering drawing, watercolour, gouache, and oil techniques, and eventually completing his art studies in Madrid. Settling in Zurich in 1959, he left behind a rich body of work. This exhibition in the Cantonists’ Barracks offers a fragment of his oeuvre, emphasizing his profound connection with nature as depicted through his diverse artistic medium.
Tickets are available for PLN 16 (normal), PLN 8 (reduced), and PLN 1 for children up to 7 and youth up to 26. Admission is free on Fridays. The exhibition admission is included with a ticket to the Museum of Hunting and Horsemanship.
