Curatorial context

"Maria Ka x Chór w Ruchu" is a performance event for adults that reinterprets Stanisław Wyspiański's celebrated drama "Noc Listopadowa" 121 years after its first publication. Titled "Noc Listopadowa. Wszystkie Zwycięstwa Kobiet" (November Night. All the Victories of Women), the performance engages with the drama's key theme of a lost uprising by questioning the roles of women in the narrative, historical events, and classic theatrical representations. It delves into their position in politics and the earthly-mythical framework of the play, questioning the definitions of triumph and defeat, universal human motives, and the state of a world governed by women. Maria Ka and Chór w Ruchu give voice to the female characters from Stanisław Wyspiański's drama and the exhibition "Ikonosfera Wyspiańskiego. Noc listopadowa w Łazienkach Królewskich." This musical journey explores a mythological world of female leaders, demiurges, wise women, initiators, and creators of the highest values. It also highlights the contributions of women in the dramatic's stage productions, such as costume designers, actresses, and anonymous women featured in exhibition photographs and behind-the-scenes of theatrical endeavors. The event is part of the closing activities for the temporary exhibition "Ikonosfera Wyspiańskiego. Noc listopadowa w Łazienkach Królewskich."
