Curatorial context
The interactive educational zone, 'O-powiadaj! Japonia w pięciu opowieściach' (Tell me! Japan in Five Stories), was designed for children aged 1 to 12, accompanying the exhibition "ONNA. Piękno, siła, ekstaza" (ONNA. Beauty, Strength, Ecstasy). The space used wordplay on the Japanese honorific 'O' to emphasize the value of stories in cultural discovery and imagination development. Visitors were immersed in tales and legends from the Land of the Rising Sun, with five magical narratives guiding them through adventures. Children encountered characters like Momotarō, the Peach Boy, journeyed with a deep-sea princess, and traversed bamboo forests filled with gold. Interactive activities included a kamishibai theater, story stones, a large-format game for creating narrated stories, mini drawing workshops, and origami figure folding, all inspired by fairy tale motifs. The zone aimed to encourage families to engage with the magic of Japanese storytelling.
