This is a series of online meetings dedicated to the history and art of the White House in Royal Łazienki Park. Participants can engage in discussions about graphics, East Asian aesthetics present in the interiors, and the historical and contemporary work of conservators.

Curatorial context

The online series 'Piękno przemian. Spotkania z historią i sztuką w Białym Domu' offers a deep dive into the historical and artistic aspects of the White House. Led by art historian Jolanta Żubrowska, the meetings will explore the processes of change within the historic interiors, conservation methods, and our understanding of these transformations. The series includes three distinct sessions. The first, on October 1, 2020, focuses on 'The Workshop of the Old Conservator. Antoni Jan Strzałecki,' detailing the conservation efforts on the White House's painted decorations and the life of the renowned decorator and collector. The second session, on October 15, titled 'Refined and Useful Graphics,' examines the role of engravings as interior decoration and sources of inspiration in the 18th century, using Stanisław August's Royal Collection of Graphics as a case study. The final meeting, on October 29, 'Chinoiserie in the White House,' investigates the presence of East Asian aesthetics in the White House interiors and its surroundings, exploring the genesis of this fascination and its relevance today.

Each meeting costs 8 PLN, with tickets available for purchase online via e-wejściówki. A transactional fee is added. The limit for participants is 20 people per session.
