Discover the 'Salon nauczycielski' Interdisciplinary Teacher Training Seminars at Royal Łazienki Museum

This series of interdisciplinary training seminars invites teachers of humanities and arts, particularly from secondary schools, to engage in an exchange of thoughts and experiences. The 'Salon nauczycielski' (Teacher's Salon) is an interdisciplinary training seminar series designed for teachers of humanities and arts, especially those in secondary schools. The event aims to foster an exchange of ideas and experiences, drawing inspiration from the 18th-century salon tradition, within the historic settings of the Royal Łazienki Park. Participants will discuss modern history and culture, reflecting on how these topics can be integrated into school curricula and how museum education can support formal learning. The series was structured into several distinct sessions, each focusing on specific themes and pedagogical approaches. For instance, 'W królewskiej formierni' (In the Royal Foundry) explored ancient art, classical mythology, and the reception of ancient art in the 18th century, with a hands-on element of creating casts. Another session, 'Powtórzenie i różnica, czyli Metamorfozy i ich metamorfozy' (Repetition and Difference, or Metamorphoses and their Metamorphoses), delved into Ovid's Metamorphoses and its artistic interpretations, focusing on graphic arts and the historical context of the White House. A third session, 'Strojenie się w cudze piórka. Komedia dell’arte i jej relacje z XVII- i XVIII-wiecznymi dworami' (Dressing in Others' Feathers. Commedia dell’arte and its Relations with 17th and 18th-Century Courts), examined the influence of commedia dell’arte on theatre, including its presence in Polish theatre and its relevance to the Saxon and Stanisławian eras. The seminars were led by specialists from various fields, including art historians, historians, theatre scholars, and museum educators, ensuring a rich and interdisciplinary learning experience.
