This technical workshop invites participants aged 14 and above to design and create their own wall clocks, drawing inspiration from historical timepieces. Participants will explore the artistry of old clocks from the collection of Stanisław August and learn about historical design changes before crafting their own functioning clocks.
Inspired by the regal timepieces from Stanisław August's collection, which were not only functional but also significant works of art, this technical workshop for adults and youth (14+) focuses on the design and creation of personal wall clocks. Participants will gain insight into the historical evolution of clock forms and decorations by examining selected exhibits. The workshop blends artistic craftsmanship with historical context, offering a unique opportunity to engage with the history of design and the art of timekeeping. The session aims to connect craft with history, allowing participants to momentarily 'stop time' and imbue it with new meaning through their creations. The workshop is led by Jan Pfeifer, a product and graphic designer with numerous accolades, who also teaches design fundamentals. His work often integrates synesthetic approaches with new technologies. Pfeifer has also created an installation titled 'Seeing the Unseen' for the 'Łazienki w zachwycie' exhibition, which reconstructs ornamental rosettes from palace ceilings using 3D printing and light elements. This workshop serves as a practical, hands-on extension of the themes explored in the broader 'Łazienki w zachwycie' program.
