Curatorial context

This workshop series, titled "W pracowni Pretiego" (In Preti's Studio), offers participants a hands-on introduction to oil painting techniques, specifically drawing inspiration from the Baroque artist Mattia Preti. Aimed at youth aged 14 and above, as well as adults, the workshops provide foundational knowledge crucial for creating an oil painting. Sessions cover essential steps such as preparing and priming a canvas, and delve into the terminology of art supplies and techniques like gesso, pigment, varnish, and impasto. The series is structured to guide attendees through these processes, culminating in the creation of individual oil paintings inspired by Preti's oeuvre. These workshops run on November 18, December 2, and December 16, 2023, all commencing at 11:00 AM and concluding at 2:00 PM, taking place at the Ecological Education Centre in the New Orangery.
