Participants will learn techniques inspired by nature and historical artworks, exploring both classical and contemporary approaches to depicting flora.
The "Watercolor Painting Workshop" invites adults and seniors to engage in artistic expression through plein-air watercolor techniques within the picturesque historical gardens of the Royal Łazienki Park. Led by Lena Lewandowska, a student of art history and art educator, the workshop focuses on capturing the beauty of nature using brushes and paints. Participants will draw inspiration from the temporary exhibition "Life of a Royal Garden" (Życie królewskiego ogrodu) as they learn to translate their observations into watercolor compositions.
The workshop is divided into two sessions. The first, on August 2nd, "Nature - Classic! 17th-19th Century," will delve into historical inspirations, focusing on classical botanical details and plein-air painting traditions. The second session, on August 9th, "Nature - Synthetic! 20th-21st Century," will explore contemporary approaches, including abstraction and synthetic representations of nature, following in the footsteps of artists like Georgia O'Keeffe and Piet Mondrian. Each participant will create a series of watercolor paintings, moving from realistic to abstract interpretations.
