An Immersive Journey Through Earth's History
This 50-minute immersive film, "Our Story," offers a profound exploration of the intricate connections that bind all life on Earth. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, the experience transports viewers on a journey through four billion years of Earth's evolution, underscoring the inseparable link between our planet's history and the comparatively brief existence of humankind. The presentation combines striking nature footage, captivating animations, and advanced projections to create a full 360° experience within the Planetarium dome. It delivers a compelling narrative about human impact, collective responsibility, and the potential for a harmonious coexistence with the natural world.
Developed by the acclaimed Open Planet Studios, known for their work on productions like "Ocean with David Attenborough" and "David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet," "Our Story" previously captivated audiences at the Natural History Museum in London.
Connecting with Nature at Artis Zoo
The presentation of "Our Story" at Artis Zoo perfectly aligns with the institution's core mission to help people experience, comprehend, and appreciate the natural world. Artis aims to showcase the rich diversity of life and emphasize humanity's role as an integral part of this intricate system.
Sir David Attenborough shared his hopes for the film, stating, "Humans are the most influential species on Earth. We are completely dependent on this beautiful planet, but its future lies in our hands. I hope that visitors of all ages will experience Our Story and go home inspired, informed, and aware that they play an essential role in our world. This is our story."
Rembrandt Sutorius, Director of Artis, reiterated this sentiment, noting that the film's presence at Artis reinforces the zoo's commitment to showcasing the interconnectedness of all life. "Through wonder, we want to inspire people to take action to better care for our planet," Sutorius commented. Jonnie Hughes, co-founder and director of Open Planet Studios, added that Artis provides an ideal setting for visitors to discover the richness of life up close, making it a fitting choice for the film's first adaptation outside the United Kingdom.
