Discover Prehistoric Planet: Dinosaurs, The Immersive Experience at Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam
Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam is set to transport visitors 65 million years into the past with its new immersive exhibition, "Prehistoric Planet: Dinosaurs, The Immersive Experience." Opening on Thursday, February 12, the show draws inspiration from the acclaimed Apple TV series "Prehistoric Planet," offering an unparalleled journey into the world of dinosaurs. Guests will have the chance to witness life-sized recreations of iconic species like the Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor, and Dreadnoughtus, experiencing their movements, hunting techniques, and survival strategies up close through stunning scientific reconstructions and visuals.
Journey Through a Dinosaur-Dominated World
The exhibition invites visitors to explore the diverse and often dangerous landscapes that defined the age of dinosaurs. From volatile volcanic plains and treacherous cliffs to the depths of ancient oceans, the theme of survival is ever-present. Scenes depict Isisaurus mothers guarding their eggs, hatchlings narrowly escaping predators, and marine reptiles defending their young from colossal hunters in the deep. On land, the massive Dreadnoughtus towers over onlookers, while two Tyrannosaurus rexes stalk their prey under the cloak of night. Along steep cliffs, Velociraptors and pterosaurs assert their dominance, each demonstrating unique survival tactics.
Beyond the dramatic action, "Prehistoric Planet: Dinosaurs, The Immersive Experience" also offers educational insights. Visitors will learn about the methods paleontologists and scientists use to reconstruct dinosaur life, covering topics from fossilization to evolution and behavior.
From Screen to Immersive Spectacle
Developed by London's Lightroom, this production translates the visuals of the "Prehistoric Planet" series into a vast, scientifically informed experience. The narrative is available in Dutch, with an English version narrated by British actor Damian Lewis for international guests. The exhibition is further enhanced by an evocative soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer, Anže Rozman, and Kara Talve for Bleeding Fingers Music.
Combining raw natural scenes, realistic depictions of prehistoric struggles, and a powerful soundtrack, the immersive experience aims to be more intense than a traditional exhibition. It is designed to be suitable for visitors aged 6 and above.
