Tintin: The Immersive Adventure Opens at Fabrique des Lumières Amsterdam
Fabrique des Lumières, Amsterdam's leading digital art center, is set to transport visitors into the world of one of the most beloved comic heroes with its new immersive exhibition, "Tintin: The Immersive Adventure." Opening on October 19, 2024, this creation pays tribute to Hergé's famous Belgian reporter, transforming the Zuiveringshal on the Westergasterrein into a dynamic canvas of art and storytelling.
The exhibition is a co-creation by Tintinimaginatio, the exclusive rights holder for Hergé's work, and Culturespaces, a pioneer in immersive experiences. Through their combined expertise, Tintin's iconic journeys move from comic pages to grand-scale digital projections, surrounding guests with moving images and sound.
Experience Tintin's Iconic Stories
"Tintin: The Immersive Adventure" brings the reporter's entire comic life to the fore, from his first appearance in "Tintin in the Land of the Soviets" in 1929 to his more recent albums. All the cherished characters from the series appear, including Tintin and his loyal dog Snowy, Captain Haddock, Thomson and Thompson, Professor Calculus, Bianca Castafiore, and a host of memorable adversaries.
Visitors of all ages will be immersed in the vivid universe created by one of the twentieth century's greatest comic authors. The classic Tintin comics are projected onto the 17-meter-high walls of the Zuiveringshal, accompanied by a soundtrack featuring music from artists such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, David Bowie, and Jacques Brel. This musical backdrop enhances the adventurous and captivating atmosphere of Tintin's tales.
Patrick Alders, director of Fabrique des Lumières, expressed enthusiasm for the new show, highlighting Tintin's status as a legend in the comic world and the unique opportunity to present his nearly century-old adventures in a new, immersive format.
Exclusive Scenes for Amsterdam Visitors
While the original immersive creation has been showcased in other "Lumières" venues in Europe, the Amsterdam presentation of "Tintin: The Immersive Adventure" includes two new, exclusive scenes. This marks their European debut and offers a fresh experience for visitors to Fabrique des Lumières. These scenes are based on two popular albums from Hergé's career: "The Secret of the Unicorn" and "Tintin in Tibet."
-
"The Secret of the Unicorn" delves into the ancestry of Captain Haddock, recounting the story of his forebear, Sir Francis Haddock, commander of the ship "The Unicorn." This scene transports viewers to the moment the vessel faces an attack by the notorious pirate Red Rackham.
-
"Tintin in Tibet" invites audiences on a daring rescue mission in the Himalayas. Tintin embarks on a treacherous climb into the mountains where his friend Chang's plane has crashed. Alongside Captain Haddock and Snowy, Tintin confronts extreme cold, avalanches, and other mountain perils in search of clues to find Chang.
