Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam Extends Hours for Summer Evenings Featuring Jimmy Nelson and Klimt
Fabrique des Lumières, Amsterdam's prominent digital art center located on the Westergasterrein, is set to introduce extended evening opening hours for the first time since its grand opening last April. From July through early September, visitors will have the unique opportunity to experience immersive art projections into the evening. The "Summer Nights" program will feature large-scale exhibitions of renowned artists Jimmy Nelson and Gustav Klimt.
New Evening Experiences at Fabrique des Lumières
This summer marks a significant expansion for Fabrique des Lumières, allowing more art enthusiasts to engage with its distinctive digital exhibitions. The extended hours are being introduced after a successful first year, providing an additional opportunity for those who may have missed previous showcases by Jimmy Nelson or Gustav Klimt.
The evening schedule kicks off with a special lecture by British-Dutch artist Jimmy Nelson on July 5. During this exclusive event, Nelson will share insights into his exhibition, "The Last Sentinels: Heroes from Near and Far," discussing the vision behind his extensive body of work and his efforts to highlight the importance of cultural heritage. Attendees will also have a chance to ask questions before experiencing his powerful projections.
Featured Evening Exhibitions: Jimmy Nelson and Gustav Klimt
From Saturday, July 8, through Sunday, August 6, the exhibition "The Last Sentinels: Heroes from Near and Far" by Jimmy Nelson will be presented during evening hours, from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. This immersive experience combines photography, film, animation, and sound to bring traditional cultures to life. It also incorporates imagery from Nelson's latest project, "Between the Sea and the Sky," which captures traditional Dutch culture and communities.
Following Nelson's exhibition, from Monday, August 7, to Sunday, September 3, the "Gold and Colourful" exhibition dedicated to Austrian artist Gustav Klimt will return due to popular demand. Also running from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, this presentation invites visitors to discover Viennese masterpieces from the 19th century in a new light. Iconic works like Klimt's "The Kiss" are projected in monumental scale, guiding the audience through a journey of Art Nouveau style, featuring golden and brightly colored portraits, landscapes, and nudes, alongside works by Hundertwasser.
