The exhibition 'Historietas del tebeo 1917-1977' offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of Spanish comics, presented at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC) in La Coruña. Drawing from a collection of 300 pieces, including 180 original drawings and 120 magazines, the exhibition traces the journey of tebeos from their inception and consolidation as a literary genre to their impact on children and their eventual transition to adult comics.
The exhibition is structured into three main sections. The chronological section highlights the origins of tebeos, the progression of the industry, and its surrounding context. 'Genres, Characters, and Authors' examines key Spanish comic genres such as humor, adventure, romance, official publications, and adult comics. Finally, 'Intimacies of the Tebeo' delves into the creation process, formats like almanacs and foreign editions, the rise of graphic novels, and rare, short-lived publications, showcasing the cultural and graphic heritage of these beloved narratives.
