This exhibition showcases a selection of original drawings from Antonio Mingote's seminal work, 'Historia de la Gente'. Presented as part of the 'MUSEO ABC EN RUTA' initiative, it highlights 250 drawings that explore universal themes such as human conflict, social issues, art, and the human condition.
The Fundación Colección ABC presents a selection of original works from Antonio Mingote's masterpiece, "Historia de la Gente," at the Museo Etnográfico de Castilla y León in Zamora. Originally published in installments in _Los Domingos de ABC_ from 1980 to 1983, this version, titled '(Breve) Historia de la Gente,' features 250 drawings chosen to maintain the artist's intended discourse and spark. Mingote, a renowned journalist, humorist, and intellectual, aimed to discuss contemporary issues, the absurdities of human behavior, and the dichotomy between heroic acts and foolishness, all with a primary intention to be "divertida" (entertaining).
The exhibition delves into themes that permeated Mingote's extensive career, including human conflicts, poverty, environmental conservation, art, education, and the enjoyment of life. These universal subjects remain relevant and engaging, reflecting the artist's keen observation of society. The exhibition provides context on Mingote's prolific career, from his early work in children's publications to his decades-long association with the newspaper ABC, and his recognition through numerous awards and his position at the Real Academia Española.
